Marvel Comics becoming huge success in movies

I just wanted to take time to point out that thor which was just released in theatres, made 66 million its first weekend. Which is a good amount to establish itself as a worthy movie. I have been paying attention to the movies that are based off of Marvel Comics, and each one has been successful. Why i don't really know, but the stories are really good. Other Marvel Comic movies are x-men, spiderman, superman and these have all been successful franchises and continue to grow with fame as more and more sequels are released.

I though this was something interesting that has been going on for years now and has become popular. Not everyone reads the comics but they sure do watch these movies.

Whats your biggest pet peeve about going to the movies?

This week i want to know what your biggest pet peeve is when going to the movies. It could be from other people being loud and ignorant, babies crying, the price fo tickets, the food, drinks, the cleanliness of the theater. Anything really im just curious to get other peoples point of views. Its not just about watching a movie anymore because there are so many interruptions. Heres my thoughts.

I dislike going to the movies because number one it is outrageous what the prices are for a ticket, and god forbid you want to see a 3-d movie or one in an IMAX theater. I think spending near 20 bucks for a movie is just sick, and besides movies these days aren't worth it to me.

Second, you can never go to a movie, no matter what time, and not have someone being loud or just keeping your attention from the movie especially if it's good and you want to see it. The number one pet peeve for me in this case is younger people and parents who bring their kids/babies, its ridiculous, you obviously know a 2 year old isn't gonna be quit and watch something for a couple hours. So you shouldn't bring them.

That's about it for me, i dont care for the food or anything, i used to hang there when i was younger but now i go and get out. It kind of ruins the experience, but theres nothing you can do about it.

If anyone has similar ideas i would like to hear them and also get a response from my own. Tell me what you think and what you like or dislike.

Is downloading movies bad?

The problem with the movie industry these days is that they are concerned on making a profit and distributing movies that will maximize their profits. So these movies we see these days are a very broad range for all audiences, so why should you have to pay for something you may think looks good but you end up hating? For example, the previews of movies shown on TV are the best parts of the movies sometimes and then when you get to actually go see the movie because you though it would be good, you end up seeing its not. Then you think about the $11 plus you just spent that was a waste of time and money.

If you were given the choice to view the movie for free you wouldn't feel this way, because even if you didn't like it you didn't waste your hard earned money on it. I also think that most people who really do enjoy the movie's they have seen and not paid for they would buy on DVD because they enjoyed it. So the movie companies would be getting paid either way, but they want to have that double pay in case you do like it and then buy it on DVD.

An article from ehow.com explains more about the history of illegally downloaded movies, its misconceptions and potentials for the illegal downloads. The article makes a good point about saying the movie companies now came up with Hulu and other sites like that to see shows and movies for free. This would not have happened if downloading movies had not been done. The exact words are "As more movie studios and the MPAA itself begin to accept the fact that downloading movies (be it in a legal or illegal fashion) is not going away, they've begun to embrace the Internet as a legitimate means to distribute product. For example, certain studios have begun to offer online "Video on Demand" services where you can download a new release for a limited time for a certain amount of money to be watched in the comfort of your own home." The link for this article is http://www.ehow.com/about_4577008_downloading-movies.html

So basically, without the downloading and sharing of content some services that are now very popular such as Netflix may never have been created. Although in order for the movies to compete with the public now and all the connections we have with each other. They are forced to create new services and ways to distribute their products if they want to make a profit. Which is actually a good thing because it gives the public more options and makes it easier for us to view movies. So downloading movies legally or illegally is a good thing and a freedom the public should be able to have so we can make our own decisions with no consequences.

LOVE and OTHER DRUGS

Love and other drugs was a good movie, i recommend it to anyone who would like to see a raunchy film with a little comedy mixed in. The overall story line was good though, it was mainly about a man (Jamie) who falls in love with a woman (Maggie) who has Parkinson's disease. Throughout the movie Jamie learns how hard it is to take care of a person with Parkinson's and be with them. So he becomes obsessed with trying to get her help and cure her even though there is no cure. So things fall apart but in the end they get back together and everything's all good.

Yes, this is mainly a "chick flick" but it does have humor for both men and women. So like i said id recommend it.

This movie proves my point in my earlier post, about how movies are becoming more raunchy. This movie was mostly like a soft porn, there was constant nudity and sexual acts being displayed. Which is different from older movies, but this is just another example of how movies have changed.

Are movies becoming more raunchy?

Many movies in the recent years are proving to be more sexual and filled with more adult content. These raunchy movies range from any form of movie genre such as: drama, comedy, sci-fi, action, etc.. Even though this trend seems to be taking place, the question is why? In my opinion I believe it is the new generation of young adults that is now running the show, the more tickets that are bought to see this raunchy videos, the more film makers are inclined to make them to make money. So us, the viewers, are most likely the cause for this dramatic change in what content is shown and discussed in movies. An example of how this seems to only be affecting the younger and more youthful generation is from a very well known film critic, Roger Ebert. When looking through Roger's website and all the reviews he has done i noticed that anything he lists as a "great movie", is mostly all older films from the 90's to even the 20's. Not one of the movies made today has made his list, however the movies he doesn't choose remain to be the most "popular" in our culture. So, basically i used his website as a way to show and better explain my point about the movies today being for a younger audience or at least attract a different audience than the generation before. To look at Roger Ebert's site and check it out for yourself click here: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?category=REVIEWS Now to move onto my broader point about movies being more raunchy than ones in the past. I found an interesting article written by Bob Fischbach, explaining how movies today are more raunchy and more specifically the "coming of age" movies. He explains we know that sex sells but how did we get to a point where we have such movies as Easy A, or SuperBad becoming blockbuster hits? Bob Fischbach says, "Did movies push us down that road? Maybe, but if so, they didn't have to push very hard. We're still in the drivers seat to determine what gets made, every time we buy a ticket." To read Bob Fischbachs article and more on what he has to say please click here: http://www.omaha.com/article/20100916/ENTERTAINMENT/709169963 In conclusion, it is obvious that movies are starting to become more sexual oriented and the more they become bigger hits, the more that will be made. Once again this only seems to be affecting the younger generations today, and with the older ones dieing off, the younger generations are the ones running the show now. Films are changing slowly but soon enough these raunchy films will become normal and unnoticed by society.

GROWN UPS

So i went to see this movie in theatres when it came out and i thought it was gonna be funny and ok. Only because Adam Sandler has not done great movies like the old ones such as Happy Gilmore or Billy Madison. However this movie was halarious, anytime you get that many talented actors together like Chris Rock and Rob Schneider, its almost impossible for it to be a bad movie.

Ok so this movie is a comedy and a very good one, its one of those that will never get old and the jokes will live on. I suggest anyone who has not seen the movie does so right away, because you are definitely missing out. If you didn't like the movie I'd like to know why so COMMENT PLEASE. Thanks and heres the link for the trailer to the movie:

LIFE AS WE KNOW IT

This was a really good movie, it was predictable but most movies are these days. Also it wasn't just a sappy chick flick, it was funny throughout the whole movie with humor of all kinds. I didn't expect this movie to be good when i heard about it, cause basically its about a couple who dies leves there kid to their best friends and they have to raise her. So i didn't think it could be a funny, interesting movie but they have a lot of comic relief characters when things get sad or down. I would reccomend this movie if people haven't seen it yet.

I have included the trailer to the movie so if you havn't seen anyhting or heard about it now you can, maybe you will be interested maybe not. But it is worth your money and time so here's the link:

SAW 7

Saw 7 was much different from the other ones made in the franchise, it seemed to be less quality in acting and special effects, however it is a 3D movie and i didn't see it in 3D so that may have been a problem. Other than that the story line was good and interesting, but they keep bringing old characters back to life it seems. You don't see some of them die and all of them have been ending up helping the killer in the movie. Now with the ending on this one it seems like they will go on and make another. The Saw movies have really gone downhill ever since the 3rd movie and aren't as good as they ones before them and they should probably quit while there still ahead.

Anyway, if you didn't get to see the movie yet ill post the trailer for it but it's not really all that good so try and get it at redbox for a $1.

Two and a Half Men is Cancelled

The hit comedy show Two and a Half Men has been cancelled until further notice, after Charlie Sheen the star of the show had a drug and alcohol problem and refused to go to rehab, and then went on television and talked bad about his boss. So now because of him Warner Brothers and CBS are going to lose hundreds of millions of dollars, and will not continue the show because without a star there is no show basically.

I found this interesting because one guy who has problems in his life is gonna end up costing a network an extreme amount of money and is currently putting others out of a job. It's also ironic that the star has drug and alcohol problems when he plays a character whos got alcohol problems.

To find out more on this i have an article posted below which gives the information on how much money will be lost and more on the story of what Charlie Sheen did.

NO STRINGS ATTACHED

I went and saw the new movie with Natlie Portman and Ashton Kutcher yesterday, No Strings Attached, and it was halarious. Overall a good movie it got cheesy at some parts and it was very predictable but the jokes in it were really good. I don't go to the movies much at all because the prices are so high, $11, but id say this was worth it. Natalie Portman did an awesome job and lately the stuff I have seen her do is funny ill post a link to a video she was in that i think The Lonely Island made, which is a group who makes funny videos and also does some for SNL. Well if anyone gets a chance to see it let me know what you thought about it.

Some may not like this video but i thought it was really good hahaha

Step Brothers

For the first post id like to share with everyone my favorite movie of all time, which is Step Brothers. I first saw this movie in theatres when it came out in the summer of 2008 and it is basically just the greatest funniest movie of all time. I like commedies mostly but lately there really aren't many made every year which sucks but it saves me money. The prices at the theatres are too much for me now. Alright well i have to go to work, i hope to see others posting soon.
